Lithuanian brewing tradition dates back to the 11th century and it reached its peak at the end of the 19th century - early 20th. At that time, the highest concentration of breweries was found in Aukštaitija - the native land of the Kalnapilis brewery. It was in this region where the true Lithuanian beer taste, greatly influenced by the German beer traditions and culture, was born.
