About Canal Park Brewing Company

LOCALLY OWNED FAMILY BUSINESS Canal Park Brewing Company is a locally owned family venture. We’ve successfully owned and operated many businesses in the Twin Ports and the surrounding area for over fifty years. However, creating a brewery on the shore of Lake Superior was a longtime dream. Our ties to the brewing industry in Duluth go back as far as the 1940’s and 1950’s when our great uncle, Maxamillian Herrnberger I, was employed by Fitger’s Brewery. As a treat, he would bring these handcrafted beers and sodas to family gatherings. We salute those who’ve mastered the art of crafting beer and we’ve passed on these rich traditions from one generation to the next. Welcome, we hope you enjoy the craft beer, great food, and amazing view. A LONG ROAD, BUT WORTH EVERY PENNY After years of dreaming, saving, and planning, we found the perfect place in the heart of our community where we could share our love of craft beer and great food. Saving a strip of land in Canal Park from being turned into another parking lot, we invested considerable time and money into cleaning up years of soil contamination left over from a long history of industrial pollution. Today the brewery sits on pristine land with amazing views of Lake Superior and downtown Duluth. Continual efforts are made to support other local businesses, the community, and the environment, as well as provide high-quality food and drink with sustainably sourced ingredients, often organic and local.
