Oakham Ales was established in 1993 in Oakham (Rutland) - the first beer brewed was Jeffrey Hudson Bitter (JHB). In 1998 the brewery relocated to new premises in Peterborough, a 35 barrel plant being installed in the new Brewery Tap brew pub. Rapidly increasing demand meant that capacity at the Brewery Tap site was reached and in October 2006 a new 75 barrel brewery was opened in the Woodston area of Peterborough. In 2009 on another hop sourcing visit to the USA, John Bryan, our Brewing Director, discovered an exceptional new hop variety – Citra. He instantly fell in love with it and couldn’t wait to brew with it. He rushed it to the UK, ensuring that Oakham Ales were the first brewery to brew a beer with 100% Citra hops. Citra is now our best selling beer. Volume has doubled in the last few years with particularly rapid growth in bottled beer production and Oakham Ales today brews over 25000 brewers barrels a year (43000 HL) of beer per year. That’s more than 7m pints! We are now going through ambitious expansion works that will enable us to diversify more into producing exciting keg beers.

Nene Valley Brewery is located in Oundle, Northamptonshire and produces a wide range of cask, keg, canned and bottled craft ales. We are creators of quality beers, with an on-site Bar & Restaurant. For over a year now most of our beers have been produced to be gluten free. That is to say we have them regularly tested by accredited labs and the results show them to have less than 20ppm of gluten. We are convinced that it will soon be the norm for gluten to be removed from beer. This is why we don’t regard it as the key differentiator for NVB’s products. We still want to stand out for the range and quality of what we make here at Oundle Wharf. We are proud of what we do and want to share it with as many people as possible.

Duncan Vessey of Castor Ales a lifelong Posh supporter wanted to commemorate Posh’s amazing season with a special beer. He has dry-hopped one of his regular brews, in other words he has added extra hops to a cask, which changes the taste and nature of the beer. Duncan said ‘ The name ‘Craig Mack Ale’ is a fitting tribute to Craig who has had a fantastic season scoring 35 goals, he is a favourite at London Road and will always receive a warm welcome from the fans when he returns’ The beer went on sale in the Ostrich, North Street, Peterborough yesterday, and will soon be available at the Prince of Wales, Castor, and the Hand and Heart, Highbury Road, Peterborough. Duncan added ‘the ale is blonde of course, a pint of two halves, and when drunk sensibly, you’re likely to score!’ Duncan friend’s local artist and ET cartoonist, John Elson drew the pump clip in the pub on Monday night, to be displayed with ‘Posh pride’ on the pump clips of the pubs. Duncan hopes to be able to present Craig with the original artwork, when he leaves Posh. The beer is a limited edition in Peterborough, but is likely to be found in Norwich, Liverpool, Wigan or London in the near future!

We have continued with the brewing of the ever popular and exclusive, 5.1% Ingle Dingle ale (aka "the other one"). We have also re-worked the former award winning 4.1% ale, Old Honesty and have launched New Honesty (aka "that one") in the pub. We have also added the new summery, Tilly's Golden Tipple at a refreshing 3.7% (aka "the one on the left") to our brewing portfolio.
