Nestling in the heart of the Wirral countryside lies the home of Trapper’s Hat Bitter. Brimstage Brewery was established in October 2006 and was the first brewery in operation on the Wirral since the closure of Birkenhead Brewery in the mid 60s. The brewery drew inspiration from its surroundings and the strong agricultural history in the area. The animals found in our beer designs are often spotted on the Leverhulme land on which we are based, giving the brewery a strong link to its location and traditions.

Wigan Brewhouse inherited equipment, beer recipes and brewery staff from AllGates Brewery.

In 2021 we were awarded a CAMRA Golden National Award in recognition of being a multiple national award-winning brewer and going above and beyond in delivering brewing excellence over 30 years. We were one of only eighteen brewers in the country to be honoured with this award. Wapping brewery is the brewery in the cellars of the Baltic Fleet pub. We are Merseyside's only brewpub. It's a 4 BBL brewery, meaning in one brew we can make 4 brewers barrels of beer. A brewers barrel is 36 gallons so one brew provides the pub with 1152 pints. Stan Shaw is one of the finest traditional brewers in England and we are lucky to have had him brewing up a storm for the last 13 years. With 136 recipes up his sleeve regulars are constantly treated to an ever changing line up of fine national award winning ales to surprise and delight the discerning lover of traditional English ale. Stan stepped down as brewer in Feb 2014 (having brewed over a million pints!) with Angus Morrison stepping up to keep the beer flowing. Angus has trained under Stan and has a passion for beer that should see some new brews joining the regular line up. Since taking the reigns in the brewery Angus has brewed several well received new beers and recently brewed the 1000th batch of beer for the brewery meaning since 2001 Wapping brewery has produced 1,144,000 pints! The Gyle 1000 beer should be available at the bar before Christmas 2014.

Parbold’s first microbrewery and brew pub! Problem child brewing began as an idea in April 2010. The Idea was to put an “own brew” on our bar at the Wayfarer creating a brew pub. This grew quickly into a 5 brewers barrel plant, small enough to be hand crafted and big enough to be viable. The Problem Child name originates from family history of the Wayfarer. Once a problem child, prodigal daughter Rachel is now home and happily married to Jonny the head brewer. Obi aged seven is apprentice brewer and problem child! Jonny continues to create a range of Bitters and Ales and his preference is for light hoppy ales. The first pint, “Scallywag” was brewed on the 15th June 2013 and sold at the Wayfarer on the 17th July 2013. The microbrewery kit is brand new and English made, by brewery specialist Vincent Johnson.

Thomas Hardy Burtonwood was launched by Peter Ward in 1998 on the site of the former Burtonwood Brewery, and now has twelve main customers on contract, ranging from international breweries to market-leading soft drink companies. It is a proud family business on a site that is steeped in history - Burtonwood Brewery dates back to 1865. The company sold its brewery to Molson Coors in 2015; it now has a unique business model where it focuses on bottling, and supports other firms rather than being a main competitor. Chris Ward took over the reins from his late father, and his team now specialise in bottling smaller, niche products or new drinks that are in product development, including their own small range of traditional and craft beers.
