Take a step back in time to a traditional Victorian public house and brewery! The Beacon Hotel & Brewery was built about 1850. The first licence was granted in 1852. It has sat virtually unchanged for decades. It is an English Heritage listed building with a nationally-important historic pub interior, where time has stood still. The traditional Black Country Victorian tower brewery and pub was bought at auction in 1921 by Sarah Hughes. The brewery flourished, brewing home-brewed ales until 1957 when the brewery closed. After 30 years lapse, the grandson, John Hughes, lovingly restored the brewery in 1987, keeping the traditional art of brewing alive. Still going strong, we’ve now been brewing on the premises for over 150 years.

Whilst stables may not be the obvious choice for most emerging breweries, Enville’s founder could see that these unused farm buildings would be the perfect, if somewhat unlikely, home for a brewery. We have been brewing award-winning ales here in the village of Enville since 1993. We are proud to use only the highest quality ingredients and our own natural well water to brew a broad range of beers to satisfy all tastes. Of these beers, it is Enville Ale that started our journey 26 years ago, and continues to be a firm favourite amongst local drinkers and beyond. With its original recipe dating back to the 19th century, it is a traditional beekeeper’s ale that is still beloved in the 21st Century.

The Black Country Ales Brewery has been established through a genuine love of traditional ales. We brew our outstanding selection of beers using only the finest ingredients to the highest possible standards. Brewing started on the site around 1834 by Edward Guest (a butcher by trade) as a side line for his local customers. The Guest family brewed for many years before passing the business on to Eli Bradley in 1870. The Bradleys carried on the tradition of producing hand-crafted real ales of quality for six generations but this finally ceased just after World War II and the brewery was moth balled. Robin Shields is our master brewer, and has a long and varied career in the industry. Highly qualified and having worked at senior levels in large organisations, Robin is now keen to make his own mark in a more individual organisation offering quality real ale products. Having now created a superb brewing environment in limited space, and having refined our classics, he is turning his mind to visions of the future, and would welcome any feedback and suggestions from our customers. Today much of the original equipment remains on view alongside all new micro brewery plant, and so, once again, this gem of West Midlands brewing heritage is serving up the finest hand crafted Black Country Ales to discerning drinkers all over the county.

Beowulf has recently changed hands from Phil to me (Joe). Last year, I moved in next door to Phil. Phil had been running Beowulf for 25 years and he was ready to retire. This was an opportunity I had always been looking for but never believed it would quite literally appear on my doorstep. You couldn’t make it up. The deal was struck, and I am now the very proud owner of Beowulf Brewing Company. 25 years of brewing history, I am brewing an extensive back catalogue of award-winning, premium real ales. I have been passionate about real ales since my early 20’s and I am very excited for you to join me on this real ale adventure. I truly believe that there is a real ale for everybody and with the right guidance it is impossible not to fall in love with at least one of our many varieties. The Froth Blowers Brewing Co. is an independent, family-run microbrewery. It is situated in Erdington, Birmingham and started selling commercially in October, 2013. The general style of the majority of the beers is ‘pale and hoppy.’ All beers are made with live yeast, Maris Otter pale or extra-pale malt as the base, with a variety of hops to finish.
