About Three Greens Brewing Co

It all started in a Frankston basement in 1998. A young lad was taught how to brew beer by his great uncle Geoff. On the other side of town, Luke was also learning the art of crafting home ales. Their early efforts may have been only marginally preferable to goon (which was in style at the time) but they persevered and kept brewing. Meanwhile, in another corner of the city, Sam was propping up a bar stool wondering why there weren't any good beers on tap. 20 years later why would a pilot and a couple of aerospace engineers start a brewing company? Like aviation, brewing is heavily regulated, and the wafer thin margins mean there's bugger all money to be made. We make beer for the same reason we get up at 3am to work with aeroplanes - we love it! We are currently gypsy brewing with the fine folk at Cavalier Brewing in Derrimut. We develop our recipes using home-grown hops on our pilot setup at Three Greens HQ in Moonee Ponds. Why Three Greens? Is it because there's 3 of us? It's a good guess, but entirely coincidental. It is actually a checklist item performed on an aircraft during final approach. When the landing gear is lowered, a check is made to see three green lights to ensure the two main gear and nose gear have locked into the lowered position.
