Subculture Artisanal Ales is a small independent craft brewery located along the Delaware River in Florence, New Jersey. Operating from a 15-barrel brewhouse at Eleven West Second Street, Subculture specialises in expressive, artisan-produced beers held to the highest standards. Founded by David Williams, an award-winning brewer who honed his craft as Head Brewer for seven years at Chicago's Horse Thief Hollow, Subculture focuses primarily on hop-forward ales and classic German styles. The brewery also features a wood-aged beer programme and seasonal releases from its R&D innovation programme. Subculture's commitment to quality extends beyond the brewhouse. All taproom staff are Cicerone-certified beer servers, ensuring proper service with style-specific glassware and meticulous attention to temperature, pour, and presentation. Each bottle and can features serving suggestions and freshness dating to guarantee optimal drinking experiences. The brewery has earned international recognition, including a 2018 World Beer Cup Gold medal for Biere de Voleur (Biere de Garde) and multiple Great American Beer Festival medals.
