In the 1800s, weary travelers could expect to find two iconic landmarks nestled in the Northern Pocono Mountain town of Honesdale, Pennsylvania: The D&H Railroad and Irving Cliff. Northeast Pennsylvania played an indispensable role in the growth of America, as The Delaware & Hudson Gravity Railroad (AKA “D&H Railroad”), along with the D&H Canal, transported needed anthracite coal though Honesdale to the larger population centers along the East Coast. In 1829, Honesdale forever became known as the Birthplace of the American Railroad once the Stourbridge Lion, the first commercial steam locomotive to debut in America, chugged on down the D&H tracks and into history. Today, tucked in the downtown of historic Honesdale, PA, is a brewery born of boldness, lore and legend. Runaway Train, a D&H Brewing Co. Concept, invites you to track back through time as a passenger on a special journey.
