This craft beer is produced using the barley harvested from the repurpoused fields surrounding the Montecassino Abbey, which have been abandoned for centuries. All the property is now under the management of a farm, with the monks monitoring. Historical notes seem to describe Montecassino Abbey's beer as the oldest in Europe.
