About Cerveceria Monstruo de Agua

Monstruo de Agua es una fábrica de bebidas endémicas. Nos enfocamos en crear recetas híbridas e inusuales con las que tratamos de recuperar la diversidad de sabores que existen en México. Una bebida fermentada es híbrida si resulta de la fermentación de combinaciones de: cereales, frutas, mieles y plantas. Mientras que una receta es inusual si se distingue por su uso de ingredientes, combinaciones de ingredientes, y/o procesos poco comunes o atípicos. Nos llamamos así porque nos inspiramos en un animalito anfibio endémico de México llamado Axolote, slang chilango para "axolotl" que en la lengua Náhuatl significa, literalmente, "monstruo de agua”. --------------------------------------------------------------- Monstruo de Agua is an endemic beverage factory. We focus on creating hybrid and unusual recipes with which we seek to recover the diversity of flavors that exist in Mexico. A fermented beverage is hybrid if it is the result of fermenting a combination of: cereals, fruits, honeys and plants. While a recipe is unusual if it can be distinguished by the use of atypical or uncommon ingredients, combinations of ingredients, and/or processes. Our name was inspired by a little amphibian endemic to Mexico City called Axolote (pronounced a-sho-lote), Mexican slang for "axolot" that in Náhuatl (the Aztec language) literally means "water monster."
