About Boss City Brewing Co.

Our Story Where did our name Boss City Brewing Co. come from? The City of Sidney was founded in 1867 by the Union Pacific and named for Sidney Dillon, a railroad attorney. The city grew up around the Sidney Barracks, a military outpost with a primary function of protecting the Union Pacific Railroad track layers against the threat of hostile Indians. Over 80 saloons along with gaming halls, brothels and the world’s first all-night theater dotted the Sidney landscape when it was known as the Boss City - the gateway to the Black Hills gold rush between 1875-1881. Where We're Headed Boss City Brewing Co. was formed with the intent to remember Sidney’s torrent and celbrated past and to pay tribute to a town that has rose from the darkness numerous times to become a thriving small town with a laid back attitude and hard-working mentality. Boss City Brewing Co is Sidney’s first and only brewery and thrives to become a cornerstone of a new age in Sidney’s history and a business its residents can be proud of.
