  1. 1

    Russian River Brewing Company

    Santa Rosa, California, United States

Russian River Brewing Company was founded by Korbel Champagne Cellars in Guerneville, CA, in 1997. Vinnie was hired as the brewery’s brewmaster and initially sole employee. For the next 6 years, Vinnie continued to set the bar high for super hoppy and Belgian-inspired beers. Pliny the Elder, first brewed at the Korbel location in 1999, was one of the first commercially brewed Double or Imperial IPA’s in America and won numerous awards over the years. It is still our most popular beer more than 20 years later. in 2003, Korbel decided to get out of the beer business and transferred the rights to the Russian River Brewing Company name, all beer names, and the recipes to Vinnie and his wife, Natalie. They wrote a business plan, found 2 managing partners, and convinced 30 friends and family to invest in their new brewpub venture. In April 2004, they opened the doors to the next chapter of Russian River Brewing under their ownership.

    Moonlight Brewing Company

    Santa Rosa, California, United States

Moonlight Brewery got its start out in the sticks of Sonoma County back in 1992, when Brian Hunt figured he could turn an old tractor barn into a brewery. It turns out he was right β€” though the tractor never forgave him. Back then, it was just Brian, a few tanks, and a lot of stubborn ideas about what good beer ought to taste like. He wasn’t chasing trends or trying to take over the world β€” he just wanted to make honest beer that made people smile, one pint at a time. But being a one man band making beer, selling beer, delivering beer and occasionally paying taxes became the job of 2 or 4 or 8 people. These days, Moonlight has moved out of the barn and into a space with actual floors, lights, and the occasional laptop. But don’t let that fool you β€” we’re still small, still independent, and still brewing beer with the same mix of curiosity, humor and chaos that started it all. You can find our beer on tap and in cans around Sonoma County, San Francisco, and the greater Northern California area. And a few places we’re honestly surprised to see it show up. Check out the map on our website to see where the trail of Moonlight leads next β€” and if you spot our beer in the wild, raise a glass to tractors, stubborn dreams, and the joy of a good pour.

    Lagunitas Brewing Company

    Petaluma, California, United States

The Lagunitas Brewing Company began on a kitchen stove in Northern California in 1993 and has been crafting hop-forward beers ever since. Welcoming the open-minded with open taps and simple truths: Beer Speaks (for itself), Life Is Uncertain (don’t sip), and It’s Good To Have Friends. To quote our BrewMonster, β€œLagunitas is made up of all kinds and creeds; punk rockers, misfits, ivy leaguers, weirdos, Waldos, Sparkle Ponies, Musicians, and everything in between … Just a pack of stray dogs that foundβ€”despite our vast and wild differencesβ€”that the love and respect for the freedom to be different is what brought us together and made it all work.” Whether we’re supporting local communities by turning beer into money for the cause, or simply fueling stories and songs with IPA and other creationsβ€”we always have a spot for you at our bar. Come as you are. And bring your dog, too.

    Napa Valley Brewing Company

    Calistoga, California, United States

In 1987, the Calistoga Inn gave birth to Calistoga beer and the Napa Valley Brewing Company. The Inn was the first establishment to brew beer commercially in Napa County since the days of prohibition. It brews four principle beers: Calistoga Wheat Ale, Pilsner, Red Ale & Porter. In addition, other seasonal beers are brewed throughout the year, such as the German KΓΆlsch, Blitzen I.P.A., Belgian Pale Ale & Dugan Oatmeal Stout. 100% percent of the brewery's production is served at the Calistoga Inn. We also sell 22 ounce bottles, which are all hand filled. We have a 7-barrel gas fired brewhouse that was originally designed by Dr. Michael Lewis of UC Davis. Our current total annual production is about 450 barrels. After long hours of wine tasting, there's nothing like a cold beer on the patio of the Calistoga Inn. Over the years we have won numerous awards for our beer, including both bronze and gold finishes at the Great American Beer Fest in Denver, Colorado, and blue ribbons at the California State Fair.
