    Spectra Brewing

    Glasgow, Glasgow City, Scotland

Started in 2020, Spectra Brewing came about from founder Alex’s love of modern East Coast-inspired American beers as part of the new craft beer movement, coupled with an appreciation of the proper ales that he has always enjoyed during his years of experience visiting the pubs and bars of Scotland and beyond. As someone who really, REALLY likes to get into the inner workings of things (in his other life as a Science teacher, he was always obsessed by how things were the way they were), Alex then spent countless time researching ingredients, brewing processes and methods, recipe development and hop profiles to find out what it was that made the beer that he wanted to drink, which incidentally seemed to turn out to be the beer that lots of others wanted to drink too. With the help of Ciaran of Acid Brewing Cartel, Winton Brewery in Haddington, and the crew at Brew Hub in Glasgow, he was able to bring his ideas to life, and Spectra Brewing was born. Our beers are heavily inspired by the US-led IPA revolution, with the East Coast style being our β€œgo-to”, but also taking influences from West Coast beers. Hops are given a front-and-centre place in all our beers, and they are always full of flavour. Primarily, we want to produce beers that craft lovers will want to drink. However, we also take inspiration from the sorts of ales we have always drank in pubs (proper real ales), but give them a new lease of life.
