    Bodgie Beer

    Christchurch, Canterbury Region, New Zealand

SMASH PALACE is a bar in a bus, a burger joint and the home of Bodgie Beer. Emerging from the rubble of the Christchurch earthquakes, this once-temporary boozer has become a permanent part of the city’s drinking culture. It’s a courtyard bar where the beer is cold and sold in real pints while the burgers are hot and cooked fresh. Thursday night is motorbike night and if you look carefully you might see Greg working on a motorbike. On the weekend the DJs spin vinyl from the workshop container. Pub dog Graham is on site four days a week. Graham says: β€œDogs are welcome.” On a Friday afternoon in summer, we reckon this place is about as good as it gets in this ol’ town.
