Brewery situated at the backside of the Willibrordus Monastery in the historic The Hague City center, with adjacent tasting room (open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays). Our brewery is modest in size and allows us to brew 2000-3000 liters a month. Besides served in our tasting room, our beer is also delivered to local bars, restaurants and bottle shops in the direct vicinity of the brewery. Everything is delivered by cargo bike. Some of our most popular beers are the Oude Molstraat White IPA (of course served in almost every bar in the nearby Oude Molstraat), the Prior double porter and the Novice oat saison.

Geboren en getogen Delftenaar John Brus (1967) is al sinds zijn 16e gefascineerd door de verschillende smaken, stijlen en eigenschappen van bier en startte al snel daarna met thuis brouwen. Lang voor de craft beer revolutie in Nederland reisde hij langs talloze bierbrouwerijen in binnen en buitenland om bieren te proeven en smaken te verzamelen. - Professioneel in't bier - Na een loopbaan in de IT besloot hij in 2008 z’n hart te volgen en ging hij verder met Menno Olivier, de oprichter en meesterbrouwer van Brouwerij de Molen, craft beer brouwerij in Bodegraven sinds 2004, ‘Wereldberoemd in het buitenland’. Tussen 2009 en 2019 is hij mede-eigenaar en -directeur van deze brouwerij. - Een oude wens - Bij John bleef altijd de wens sluimeren om ook ooit in zijn geboortestad een brouwerij te starten. In 2014 claimde hij in het kader van wishfull-thinking al de gewenste brouwerijnaam op diverse online media. Met de ambitie en het enthousiasme van Jon Cornelese, Thijs van de Donk, Sander Arkenbout van het Delfts Brouwhuis (én Café de Oude Jan) kwam de ideale match onverwacht op ieders pad. Al in de verkennende gesprekken werd duidelijk dat deze samenwerking ‘meant to be’ was. - Geen speld tussen te krijgen - De (bier)geschiedenis van het pand aan de Hyppolytusbuurt, Heilige Geest Kerkhof, het plein bij Café de Oude Jan - Delft als bierstad - de ideeën van Delfts Brouwhuis - de lang gekoesterde wens van John Brus: done deal en succes sinds dien!

We notice that the inhabitants of the Zeeheldenkwartier are very proud of the neighborhood. Everyone is committed and there are so many things where something is really crafted or something very special is being sold. We can not stay behind. We therefore purchased a microbrewery. We can brew 250 liters twice in a row. There are always two tanks of 500 liters filled with beer, ready to mature. And there is always a beer from our own brewery on tap. Besides the home-brewed beer, we will have our own Van Kinsbergen Pale Ale brew at De Haagse Brouwmeesters (Eiber - Scheveningen - Crooked Spider). This is always available on tap. With such a small installation we can not guarantee availability, so we have this beer brewed externally, but with our own recipe. After a while we also want to have the most successful brews bottled externally, so that people can drink the beer at home too. So there really is ‘Zeeheldenbier’ for the neighborhood. The last important parts for the brewery have been ordered in the Czech Republic and we hope that these parts will arrive at the end of October. From November 2018 we can then start brewing. 6 weeks later we will let our first own beer on tap.

De brouwerij is in februari 2001 gestart als "De Haagse Bierbrouwerij" in de voormalige "Fiddler & Firkin brewpub", een microbrouwerij annex café in het centrum van den Haag. Na het beeindigen van de productie op de locatie aan de Riviervismarkt werd voorzichtig uitgekeken naar een nieuwe plek voor de brouwerij. Toen in 2008 een nieuw complex bedrijfsunits aan de Heerenweg in Katwijk werd gebouwd, diende zich een nieuwe kans voor de brouwerij aan.
