The Abbaye Du Val-Dieu brewery takes pride in its type of yeast and water. Yeast, which is made up of the fungi ‘Saccharomyces Cerevisiae’ is brewed that provides the beers with vitamin B and minerals that are healthy for people to consume. The region has numerous water springs that provide excellent quality of water.

Hoptwins brouwers is opgericht in 2021 door Christophe Smeets en Bram Poelmans, twee bevriende zythologen die beide dezelfde passie rond bier delen. Ons doel is om originele bieren te creëren met een verrassende twist en een uniek verhaal, gerelateerd aan Hasselt, onze geboortestad. Christophe en Bram zijn gypsy of zigeunerbrouwers. Dit wil zeggen dat ze zelf geen eigen brouwinstallatie hebben voor de grote batches. Hiervoor huren ze de brouwinstallatie van andere brouwerijen af. Belangrijk om hierbij te vermelden is dat ze het hele productieproces (van de moutstort tot en met het bottelen/etiketteren/cappen) volledig zélf uitvoeren! Dit is nog een groot verschil met contractbrouwers, die hun recept uit handen geven aan een andere brouwerij en het eindproduct afhalen wanneer het klaar is.

The story of Boes Brewing Company starts with the family history of the founders, Nicolas Soenen and Thomas Neven. The two brewers are descendants of the founders of the historic Alken brewery and represent the fifth generation of Boes brewing beer. Their great-great-grandfather combined brewing with his agricultural business during the winter months, and his son Edouard founded the Alken brewery together with the Indekeu family, in 1923. The name ‘Boes Brewing Company’ and their beers, such as Bitter Boeske and Bazig Boeske, are a tribute to this rich family history and the passion for brewing that has been passed down from generation to generation.
