Red Mill Brewing Co. is a microbrewery that brews distinctive and unique craft beers in small batches. Located at The Chapels Gastrobrewpub in The Brewhouse, Red Mill Brewing Co. focuses on being experimental, innovative and adventurous in the craft beer market. Named after the iconic red mill originally manufactured in Bristol, UK, this historic piece of equipment was installed at the Farsons Brewery in the 1950s. It remained in operation until March 2013, when the final brew was produced in the original Farsons Brewhouse. Today, it stands as one of the few fully functional Bristol-made mills still in existence. With dedicated filtering equipment and pasteurization capability, Red Mill Brewing Co. can brew any type of beer from filtered and pasteurized to unfiltered and unpasteurized, and anything in between. The Red Mill Brewing Co. also has a kegging facility to package the beer in 20 litre stainless steel kegs. Red Mill craft beers are available only on draught in a few select local bars and pubs.
Il-Ħamrun, Malta
"The Malta Export Brewery" was created when the first privately owned Maltese bank, established in 1840 by Giuseppe Scicluna, took over one of their client's operations in 1928. They were granted a temporary exclusive licence to manufacture lagers and from this take-over were born Malta's first Bavarian inspired beers, the 'Cisk Pilsner' and the 'Cisk Munchener'. The Malta Export Brewery eventually merged with Simonds Farsons Limited in 1948. This company had itself been formed in 1929 by the merger of the local brewing firm, L. Farrugia & Sons (alias 'Farsons') and the Maltese branch of the Simonds' Brewery based in Reading, Berkshire in the United Kingdom. The new company became Simonds Farsons Cisk Limited.
