    Thomas Menner 1701

    Pannonhalma, Hungary

    The Oldest Hungarian Craft Beer from Pannonhalma. Thomas Menner was a brewer, who was born in Germany. In the 16th century, he settled down in Pannonhalma. He must have been prestigious, since Egyed Karner, the abbot at that time established an agreement with him. The document is still preserved in the archives of the archabbey. The contract was signed in 1701. It stated that Thomas Menner received two plots of land in return for building a brewery and brewing. The agreement regulated the rights and obligations of the parties in detail.What Thomas Menner created is abiding. His building is still standing – defying time for over 300 years, serving the hospitality industry.
