We’ve been brewing beer in the fine city of Bristol since early 2007. From our site in Easton, our team currently brews and packages in excess of one and a half million pints a year. That’s pints, full pints and nothing but pints (apart from the odd 440ml can, but we don’t talk about those.) Never shying away from trying out new ideas, we have an extensive back catalogue of recipes covering a vast array of styles and ABV’s. Though all different in their own way, they were all born out of a desire to make beer that we are proud of and, importantly, that we really want to drink ourselves.

At Wiper and True we love one thing: beautiful beer. We first fell in love with brewing on the stove at home, surrounded by pots, pans and raw ingredients. Tinkering endlessly, we studied the ancient art of our vocation. Nomadically brewing around the country, we learned from fantastically generous, knowledgeable artisans, honing our craft along the way. Although we've come along way since our early days, all of our recipes today stem from the same original desire to create something beautiful and delicious. Today, we’ve outgrown our roots as nomadic brewers, and operate out of two production sites. The first, the original brewery that we built in St Werburghs, Bristol, is where we focus on barrel-aged and mixed fermentation beers. New challenges continually arise and are met by our talented team of resourceful brewers and packers, as we continue producing top notch beers. In July 2022 we opened a second, much larger new headquarters in Old Market. Our large-scale brewing operations now take place on a custom-designed, German-engineered brewkit, allowing us to more than double our beer production capacity whilst maintaining a laser-sharp focus on quality and refinement. Our beers are currently available to order from us directly for home delivery in Bristol and nationwide. You can also buy online and in discerning bottle shops and off-licences around Bristol, nationwide and across the globe.

Bristol born and made to stand out, Butcombe Brewing Co. began life at a time of cultural, social and political change, crafting beer before ‘craft beer’ was even a thing. You see, at that time, no one was risking it all starting a brewery, making simple, premium, easy-drinking ale. To do so was an act of defiance. Or madness. But, 42 years and a lot of hard graft later, by staying true to our beliefs and Bristolian roots, it looks like owning a resolutely maverick brewing company isn’t such a crazy idea after all. By going against the grain, to work intimately with it, we made our own statement with every pint. And what was true then is just as important today. Butcombe now produces over 250,000 pints a week from our brewery in Wrington. As times and tastes change, so does our range of beers. Alongside Original, Gold and Rare Breed, you’ll find two craft lagers, Bohemia and Underfall, and two IPAs, Goram and Stateside, plus a range of exciting seasonal and small batch specials.

While running the ‘Crafty AF’ site, our quest to find the perfect AF brew often left us wanting more. We felt shortchanged; there wasn’t a brewery that emanated truly craft AF beer, and there were so many beer types left unexplored. This is what led to Lowtide Brewing Co. Combining stellar can artwork, a sense of crafty defiance and deliciously different AF beer, we seek to bring true craft beer to the world of AF.
