    Bumthang Brewery Ltd

    (The micro-brewery as well as the Swiss Farm was started in 1996 Fritz Maurer, a Swiss national who got married to a Bhutanese and went on to set up a brewery, and a Swiss Farm. The brewery was the first of its kind in Bhutan, producing draught beer, apple cider, wine, apple brandy and juice, while the Swiss Farm, a small family run enterprise, produces a variety of Swiss cheese and clover honey. Just like the brewery, the Swiss Farm is also the first of its kind as well as the only commercial cheese factory in Bhutan. Mr. Fritz Maurer is credited with introducing the use of modern farm equipments as well as green technology like the fuel efficient and smokeless wood stoves that are widely used in Bumthang as well as the rest of the country even today. )
