Like many Belgian abbeys, the Cistercians of Aulne Abbey had been brewing their own beer since the Middle Ages. The Abbey had to provision about 1000 friars and monks. Strong beers like Blonde, Brune and Triple were served on special occasions. Lighter beers were for daily consumption. In 1849, the brewery was closed. Some 100 years later, lay persons were allowed to brew abbey beers for the first time. Brasserie de l’Abbaye d’Aulne revived the brewing business in 1950. Today, the Abbey produces its specialty Belgian beer following the traditional brewing arts of its founders, the Cistercian monks of Aulne Abbey.

To begin, leave the glass standing straight up on the table and place the bottle at a 90° angle above the glass. Pour the beer slowly. Towards the end, lift the bottle up in order to make the beer foam, and leave a few centimetres of beer in the bottle. Cheers! Once you have drunk 3/4 of the glass, pour the rest of the bottle the same way.

Our brewery, in the south east of the belgian Ardennes, is in the heart of the Eau d'Heure dams between Phillippeville and Beaumont. In 1991, after a long research, made with the help of the University of Louvain-la-Neuve and their laboratories, two beers were created: JOSEPH, spelt beer and SARA, blackwheat beer. Locally and later nationally appreciated, they are now recognized and enjoyed in France, Canada, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Japan and USA. Brewed without preservatives and colourings, our beers have reached a very high level of quality. Well-known for its special beers the Brewery of Silenrieux has innovated by creating the first blackwheat and spelt beers. Both are recognized and certified by Certisys, an official European body: only organic ingredients (blackwheat, spelt, malt, hop) are used to brew our SARA and JOSEPH. That and the very strict selection of yeasts will fill beer drinkers with new great feelings.

Stap aan boord van de smaakvolle reis bij Brouwerij de Schol, een zee van passie opgericht in september 2021 door een groep enthousiaste hobbybrouwers en voormalige scouts van Zeedustra Koksijde. Geïnspireerd door de prachtige kustelementen ZEE, DUinen en STrand, brengen we met trots Zeedust naar de wereld - ons eerste meesterwerk. Gedreven door liefde voor bier en de kust, creëerden we Zeedust als een eerbetoon aan onvergetelijke scoutsavonturen. Het is niet zomaar een bier, maar een ware belevenis. Met toevoeging van kruiden uit de kustduinen, geven we Zeedust die unieke en verfrissende twist die je direct doet denken aan ontspannende dagen aan het strand. Ontdek de rijke geschiedenis en passie van Zeedust terwijl we je uitnodigen om onze eigen unieke bierrecepten te proeven, gebrouwen in samenwerking met BeerSelect. Met trots presenteren we momenteel twee verfrissende varianten: Zeedust, een frisse doordrinker voor zomerse genoegens, en Zeedust Tripel - een meesterwerk met een complex smakenpallet, gebrouwen slechts éénmaal per jaar met premium honing van een lokale imker aan de kust. Dus laat je verleiden door de ambacht en verrukking in elke slok - Proost op de onmiskenbare smaak van Zeedust!
