V červnu roku 1998 na počest 620. výročí propůjčení práva várečného byl na náměstí T.G.M. č. 159 otevřen pivovar - restaurant Modrá hvězda.

Pivo je vyráběno proslulou českou technologií s použitím tradičních surovin, tzn. sladu, chmele a vody. Kapacita celého zařízení je přibližně 1 500 hl piva ročně. Veškeré vystavované pivo se podává jako kvasnicové nefiltrované, tedy mírně zakalené. Zákal je tvořen pivovarskými kvasinkami, které jsou u běžného piva odstraňovány filtrací. Přitom však kvasinky obsahují značné množství vitamínů a ostatních látek, které příznivě působí na lidský organismus.
