La antigua historia de la hidromiel

La hidromiel es una bebida con mucha historia, se dice que la referencia más antigua que se conoce aparece por primera vez en los versos del Rig Vedá (compuesto entre el 1700 y el 1100 a. C.), uno de los libros sagrados del Vedismo. Aunque se especula que es anterior y que la primera referencia puede encontrarse en las pinturas rupestres de la cueva de la Araña de Bicorp (Valencia), estas pinturas están datadas sobre el 9000 a. C. y pertenecen al Arte Rupestre Levantino que fue declarado por la Unesco en 1998 Patrimonio de la Humanidad. Contiene una de las representaciones más famosas en todo el mundo, en la que aparece una persona recolectando miel. Es posible que esa miel se mojase por la lluvia y a partir de ahí las levaduras contenidas en ella hicieran que fermentase, dando lugar a la hidromiel.
