The Brewery overlooks 156 acres of wetlands that was donated by the Sima Family to Chikaming Open Lands, a non-profit organization that now maintains this Michigan state-designated “critical wetlands.” The beautiful, sweeping wetlands view to be enjoyed by patrons of Ghost Isle carries the name “Louis J Sima Great Lakes Marsh,” after Jim’s beloved Grandfather Louis J Sima. “Ghost Island” itself sits to the left and west of the brewery, and takes its name from generations of residents who played there as children and teens, and who claim there is supernatural activity on the island. Our 10 barrel system is American made from American Beer Equipment out of Lincoln, Nebraska. The steam-powered brewhouse is highly efficient and its automated features allows for easy brewing. Our brewery consists of 4 fermenters and 8 serving tanks, giving us the ability to offer a wide selection of styles.
