## About

En mapudungun Kaf significa trabajar la tierra. Elegimos ese nombre porque tenemos un fuerte compromiso con el campo, por el lúpulo que cultivamos y cosechamos y por la cerveza, pues la sentimos como una fuente de conexión entre el campo y la ciudad, y en mapudungun, porque nuestra casa está en la araucanía, una tierra hermosa, que debemos conservar y proteger.
 
Desde 1997 nuestro cervecero y fundador, Alvaro Leiva, ha fabricado cerveza, empezó en la casa de sus padres, elaborando con poco más que ollas y sartenes prestados por su madre. Con el paso de los años, sus cervezas siguieron mejorando y mejorando la calidad, siempre empujando los límites en busca de originalidad. En 2009, Alvaro fundó Kaf, y hemos sido parte de la revolución de la cerveza en América del Sur desde entonces. Hoy en día somos conocidos como pioneros en la producción de lúpulo (tenemos cuatro variedades diferentes al lado de nuestra fábrica), usamos malta 100% de Patagonia y agua de vertiente para producir cervezas de la más alta calidad. Nos gusta pensar que no hay una cerveza más pura ni más chilena.

Internacionalmente, nuestras cervezas ya han ganado renombre y medallas en la Copa Cervezas de América en 2014 y 2015. Localmente, somos conocidos por nuestro apoyo de las microcomunidades de granjeros donde nacimos, en Cunco.
