## About

Javi, Manu y Domingo amigos zamoranos de toda la vida, emprendimos nuestra andanza en este mundo de la cerveza artesanal en el año 2012. Descubrimos la cerveza artesanal en diferentes ferias y seguimos formándonos e informándonos sobre los procesos de elaboración de cerveza artesana comprando libros, visitando fábricas y catando en ferias.

Con el tiempo y viendo que el producto resultante era de calidad decidimos dar rienda suelta a nuestra ilusión y crear una empresa. Buscando ser identificados por algo novedoso, Javier como maestro cervecero de la marca decidió que nuestra primera cerveza sea de un estilo poco elaborado en nuestro país: cerveza de alta maltosidad, en la que predomina poco o nada el lúpulo y con un contenido en alcohol medio-alto.

¿Porque el nombre de Viriato?

En cuanto al nombre de la marca, la idea era tomar como emblema un personaje representativo de nuestra región. En este empeño surgió la figura de Viriato.

Viriato fue un líder de los pueblos lusitanos (tribu asentada en el territorio que actualmente son las provincias de Zamora, Salamanca, el norte de Extremadura y el este de Portugal), que hizo frente a la expansión de Roma en Hispania a mediados del siglo II a. C. Se le llego considerar como «el terror de Roma» y de aquí hemos tomado el nombre de nuestra primera cerveza, Cerveza Viriato, Terror Romanorum.
