9. Porter Brewing Co.

Bend, United States

We are an all cask brewery. Please do your research on cask before reviewing. If you don't understand it, don't review it. Cask ale is very different from regular draft. Carbonation levels are lower, flavors are more pronounced and it is served not ice cold so you actually taste all the flavors in the ale. Ales are pulled from the casks with beer engines into imperial pint or half pint glasses. All ales are served at cellar temperature (50 degrees). They are not warm nor flat. Ale at events may not be crystal clear due to the transportation of the casks. The ale is alive and there is yeast in the bottom of the cask to perform the natural carbonation process. We do not use clairifyers in our casks. There is no issue with clarity in the pub, the yeast naturally settles out to crystal clear beer. It also makes the ale vegan friendly!
