1. Small Gods Brewing Co.

Sidney, British Columbia, Canada

Small Gods Brewing Co. is a family-owned-and-operated brewery designed to fit into the community of Sidney by the Sea. Sidney, BC is a charming seaside village beside the Swartz Bay ferry terminal that connects South Vancouver Island to the mainland (and Vancouver), and is only a 20-minute drive north of BCโ€™s capital city of Victoria. Sidney is also known as Canadaโ€™s โ€œBook Townโ€ for having the greatest number of bookstores per capita in the country. We take inspiration from the world of literature and host monthly events, including author readings, literary trivia nights, and a Book Club. Our Taproom has a selection of inclusive books for kids and we strive to provide a family-friendly atmosphere where everyone is welcome to stop by, satiate their hunger with an artisan sandwich, and have a beer with friends, family, or with their favourite book. Our core purpose is to create a safe, sustainable, and inclusive community where people thrive through food, drink, and literature. Our values drive our purpose, provide the foundation of our operations, and inform our code of conduct.

3. Hoyne Brewing

Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

With thirty years in the craft brewing industry, Sean Hoyne has earned a reputation for being one of the finest Brewmasters in the Pacific Northwest. Taught by one of the best, Sean had the privilege to learn his trade from Frank Appleton, one of the most influential brewers in BC. Together, they built Swans Brewpub in 1989, where Sean then became Brewmaster. In 1998 Sean moved on and built the brewery at the Canoe Brewpub, where he stayed as the Brewmaster for 13 years. During this time he developed a portfolio of award winning beers and a strong reputation in the local community. Finally, after years of dreaming about owning his own brewery, he finally said goodbye to the Canoe Brewpub in August of 2011. Together, he and his wife Chantal, began this next chapter and opened Hoyne Brewing Company. Through the Hoyne Brewing Company, Sean looks to continue his tradition of brewing the finest craft beer with uncompromising quality and consistency batch after batch. Following the advice of Frank Appleton, "make great beer and the rest will follow", Sean does just that. He seeks to make the best beer possible, beer that is interesting, flavourful, and enjoyable at every level. Beer that looks good in the glass, feels good in the mouth, and lifts the spirit.
