7. Lost Industry
Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England
Brewing progressive beers in the Peoples Republic of South Yorkshire since 2013. At Lost Industry, we brew delicious, creative and genuinely unusual beers. While our compact premises might be narrow, the results of our brewing are anything but. The team here have combed the countryside, foraging ingredients for seasonal one-offs, collaborated with the Womenβs Institute and Forestry Commission, and have even concocted a wild garlic saison. βTraditionalβ is not a word that springs to mind when you meet us, especially after trying our forward-minded beers. With all the breweries in Sheffield, we thought that if we did a pale ale or a bitter, itβd just be noise, so we set out to do something different, and here we still are today.
8. Steel City Brewing
Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England
Craft beer from an original cuckoo brewery in the Grim North. Brewing first commenced in September 2009 as a cuckoo brewer at The Brew Company, run by Dave (EvilEmpire) & Gazza, both Ratebeer.com contributors. Gazza has since left to set up Hopcraft Brewery. For three years our beers were brewed at Little Ale Cart, before moving on to Toolmakers, then again moving on to Lost Industry. Brewed to our own recipies and with our own ingredients in our own casks. Although we share premises with Lost Industry, weβre seperate businesses. We aim to brew beers weβd want to drink ourselves which means plenty of creativity and plenty of hops!
