Preteča današnje Sarajevske pivare, postrojenje koje je otvorio industrijalac Jozef Fedbauer, počelo je sa radom 24. maja davne 1864. godine. Ovo je bio prvi industrijski pogon u BiH. Za vrijeme austrougarske vladavine, Sarajevska pivara udružena sa pivarom industrijalca Heinricha Lövyja i još nekim manjim pivarama postaje Dionička pivara. Svoj proizvod tadašnja pivara izvozi u susjedne zemlje, a 1916. godine, proizvodnja iznosi 150.000 hektolitara. Pivara biva nacionalizovana u Kraljevini SHS između dva svjetska rata, 1923. godine, i u tome periodu kupuje pivare u Slavonskom Brodu i Petrovaradinu, te pravi fabriku slada u Skoplju. Drugi svjetski rat nanosi izvjesne štete pogonima pivare. Godine 1947. ponovo je nacionalizovana i ime joj je promijenjeno u ono koje nosi i danas: Sarajevska pivara. Rast proizvodnje pivara bilježi do 1980. godine, kada nastaje blagi pad, da bi, kada 1984. godine na poziciju generalnog direktora dolazi gosn. Hilmo Selimović, proizvodnja krenula ka stalnom stabilnom rastu. Godine 1991. Sarajevska pivara je jedna od 4 vodeće pivare u tadašnjoj Jugoslaviji. Rat 1992 - 1995. godine ostavio je velike ožiljke na ovoj kompaniji, ali u periodu od 1996. do 2004. radi se na novim ulaganjima i sanaciji porušenoga. Godine 1998. sklapa se trogodišnji ugovor sa Coca-Colom, 2002. počinje suradnja sa Pepsico International koja traje do danas, a ugovor se proširuje 2006. godine kada Sarajevska pivara započinje suradnju sa Pepsi Lipto
